Julia Manning
Julia grew up in Derbyshire and Hampshire before going to University in London to study Visual Science.
She spent 17 years in hospital, home and high-street NHS eye-care services, and for the past 5 years
has run a specialist practice caring for housebound disabled people and prisoners sectioned under the
mental health act.
Her healthcare work has also included being a visiting lecturer at City University, working for
several Primary Care Trusts and being a Director of the Institute of Optometry.
Alongside her main career Julia has also run textiles business, been director of a film company
and three years ago she launched 2020health, a think tank to give people working at the front line
in health and technology a voice in policy formation.
She is an advisor to the Conservative Party on both health and new technologies.
Julia has been married for 19 years to Clive, a comprehensive school teacher, and they have two children.
Her interests apart from family life incude cycling, painting, nature and theatre.
