Thank you to the Action Teams and telephone canvassers, and all involved for the help in the local elections.

You will have seen how the newspapers are turning against the party and twisting everything the government does to display the worst possible message. Your support has helped get our message to voters of how the Conservatives are saving our country from the shambles left by Labour and Gordon Brown.

Dr Phillip Lee says that "The Royal Thames Valley Hospital would represent a unique opportunity to make 21st century personalised healthcare a reality. Replacing out-dated hospitals with a brand new, purpose-built facility, together with the implementation of a new healthcare model to bring care closer to home, would transform the lives of over 650,000 people."

Bracknell Forest, together with other Thames Valley locations, is featured as an example of a top quality location for Chinese business investment, with businesses and the local authority working in partnership.

Conservative Councillor Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration, said: "Bracknell Forest is a diverse and ever-changing borough. We have just entered an exciting stage in the regeneration of the town centre and we want to show the business community here and overseas that we are a premier location in the Thames Valley for investment."

9th May, is the centenary of the creation of the Conservative and Unionist Party out of the Conservative and Liberal Unionist parties of 1912.

MP Bill Cash has aired his opinions on this at Conservative Home.

Political parties began to form during the civil wars of the 1640s and 1650s. First, there were Royalists and Parliamentarians; then Tories and Whigs. Whereas the Whigs wanted to curtail the power of the monarch, the Tories were above all seen as the patriotic party.
Colloquially referred to as the Tory Party or the Tories, the Conservative Party emerged in 1834 out of the original Tory Party, which dates to 1678.

The Liberal Unionist Party was a British political party that was formed in 1886 by a faction that broke away from the Liberal Party. Led by Lord Hartington (later the Duke of Devonshire) and Joseph Chamberlain, the party formed a political alliance with the Conservative Party in opposition to Irish Home Rule. The two parties formed a coalition government in 1895 but kept separate political funds and their own party organisations until a complete merger was agreed in May 1912.
